MTV Movie Awards 2010 EXCLUSIVE: Tom Felton Confirms His Girlfriend Will Be In 'Deathly Hallows'
Those Warner Bros. teases. They told us we'd be getting a clip (a whole clip!!) from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," but what they slipped us was the film's second teaser trailer. It's the first we've seen from the film since its first teaser was released back in December, and this newest one gave us a bit more of an idea what we're looking forward to. Sort of.
Want to know what makes up for that entirely? Tom Felton , who took home the golden popcorn for Best Villain, confirming exclusively to MTV News that, yes, his girlfriend Jade Olivia WILL be playing the role of his wife Astoria in the "Deathly Hallows" epilogue. Since photos of her on set, in costume surfaced last week, sites had been speculating that she had the role, but Tom told us that we were the first to get the official news.
"The producers actually came to me about six months ago and asked me, and I was like, OK, I'll ask her. She was slightly reluctant but I pulled her arm and twisted it and then she was filming with me for three days at King's Cross," he said.
He joked that their relationship, which has been going on for the past two years, moved very fast in those three days. "We had a kid together, it was all very rush rush. So yeah, we were married for three days. It was very fun," he joked. "It gave me a chance to see what she would look going to look like in 19 years and, if that's what she's going to look like, I'm doing pretty well for myself."
Let the "awwwwwssss" commence now. But on to the clip! What we did get was a lot of set up for the final Harry versus Voldemort showdown. There's a distant shot of Harry, Ron and Hermione walking on a hill towards some unknown destination that we're pretty sure is the Lovegood household. Then there's a shot from behind of Voldemort, with a voice saying, "No sign of him my lord." "Bring him to me," Voldemort states. "I must be the one to kill Harry Potter."
There's a lot more that goes on in the first half of "Deathly Hallows," but we aren't surprised that the teaser chose to focus on the impending Voldemort and Harry showdown. After all, it's what the previous six installments of the franchise have been leading up to, and though it won't culminate until July 2011 in "Deathly Hallows: Part 2," it's enough to tease fans to get back into the "Harry Potter" mindset.
While there was obviously a lot of quick shots of Harry, Ron and Hermione on the run — it's what a lot of both films are going to be spent dealing with — there was a pretty awesome clip included of the showdown between Ron and Harry towards the end of "Part 1" which ends in Ron splitting off from Harry and Hermione.
Ron is worried about how his family is faring while they are on the run, and Harry is trying to tell him that he understands Ron's concerns. But Ron takes it to the next level, saying the crushing words, "Your parents are dead, you have no family." Oh no he didn't. Could this be our cliff hanger ending between "Part 1" and "Part 2"?
The teaser ends with more shots of Harry and company being chased, both through London and on some of the other parts of their journey, with the ending voiceover from Voldemort with the intimidating, "You don't stand a chance." Hate to break it to you Voldy, but we're pretty sure Harry wins this one. Which is why we have this awesome scene to look forward to.
Were you let down that it wasn't a full clip from "Deathly Hallows" that was shown at the Movie Awards, or were you just glad that we got a new teaser for the upcoming film?
